We saw Julia Wolf April 2022 and wrote, “New York’s Julia Wolf (aka WOLF), opened the show. We last mentioned that she released her debut EP Girls In Purgatory… so most of the songs played were taken from the debut, including “Falling In Love” and “In My Way”. She also had some new songs that haven’t been released yet. One of those songs, which I’ll call “Get Off My D**k” (based on a partial setlist that she released on her Facebook page), was written after being stood up from a record label.”

Opening will be Bronze Avery, in support of his debut album SOFTMETAL.

Two-time GRAMMY award-winning artist Kimbra is back! Her new album A Reckoning will be release this January 2023, with a tour to support the record.

The tour kicks off in Copenhagen on January 21st with support from Tommy Raps for the UK dates, while her American dates will have support from Tei Shi (who we saw in Oct 2017).

We saw The Beths in Mar 2022 and wrote, “As for The Beths (singer and guitarist Liz Stokes, lead guitarist Jonathan Pearce, bassist Benjamin Sinclair, and drummer Tristan Deck) … it’s been a while since we last saw the band at Rock the Garden in 2019. We wrote, “Chicago Tribune called The Beths, one of the “best up-and-coming bands”, so we were really eager to catch this young New Zealand trio (Elizabeth Stokes, Jonathan Pearce and Benjamin Sinclair) on tour. This is also partly because they are one of those few bands that we haven’t covered and was excited to see their first time in the area. According to guitarist/vocalist Jonathan Pearce, the band have been on a co-headlining tour with Bad Bad Hats since February 2019, so they were pretty happy to share the stage once again with the local band. The band basically played their debut Future Me Hates Me, available now from Carpark Records.”

It’s near the end of Fletcher’s American tour, and it has been going well. Many of her shows are selling out, thanks to the teenage fanbase… and the Fine Line Music Café show, in Minneapolis, on Saturday night, is no exception. Fans showed up early and help sell out the venue.

New York’s Julia Wolf (aka WOLF), opened the show. We last mentioned that she released her debut EP Girls In Purgatory… so most of the songs played were taken from the debut, including “Falling In Love” and “In My Way”.

She also had some new songs that haven’t been released yet. One of those songs, which I’ll call “Get Off My D**k” (based on a partial setlist that she released on her Facebook page), was written after being stood up from a record label. Let me explain, you see, a major label expressed interest in her music, so they scheduled a meeting with her in person, in Los Angeles. When the day of the meeting came, Julia Wolf waited and waited, and realized the label wasn’t going to show up. She never explained what happened, but I just got the impression that the label just forgot about it or something. I guess something good came out of it, we got a song out of it.

Wolf seemed comfortable on stage, with her live drummer. The guitar music may have been from a playback loop or DJ, which I did not see on stage, at my location. We’ve seen new bands, and sometime you can tell they’re not quite ready for the stage… but seeing Wolf perform, you can tell it’s not her first rodeo. This is a feat, as Wolf explained on stage that she grew up super shy. She never spoke up, she was passive, and she let people walk all over her. Something happened, now she’s outspoken, she’ll say what’s on her mind, she’ll stand up and fight! Most of all, she’s expressing her opinion and view point, through her songs. It’s how she is expressing her inner feelings.

Hopefully that message will inspire other teenage girls at the concert, hearing Wolf tells her story.

As for Fletcher (Cari Fletcher), she started releasing her music in 2016 (with Finding Fletcher), but her first major hit was a song called “Undrunk” in 2019. The single hit the Billboard Hot 100 and Spotify’s #1 Viral Chart. Naturally radio stations started to pick up on the song, and overnight the song was the fastest-rising song at pop radio.

She started her set with “girls girls girls”, a song that reused a line from Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl”. It sets the tone that she’s a member of the LGBTQ+ community. If you weren’t sure, her latest EP The S(ex) Tapes is really about her relationship with famous YouTuber Shannon Beveridge.

She has a very strong fanbase, almost every song, you can hear her fans singing back the lyrics. As you can see in the photos, she’s literally just letting her fans finish the chorus.

Black metal band Mayhem is headlining the Skyway Theatre in Minneapolis on April 2nd. The date is part of their The Sanguine Sodomy of North America Spring tour.

Mayhem’s debut album De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, an album on Rolling Stone’s “The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time”, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

Legendary Grateful Dead founder Bobby Weir will be playing live at the UC Berkeley Greek Theatre on July 24th. The show is billed as Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros.

Who are the Wolf Bros? They’re Bobby Weir, Don Was, and Jay Lane… however, these special shows will feature Jeff Chimenti on keys and Greg Leisz on pedal steel, along with The Wolfpack: Alex Kelly, Brian Switzer, Adam Theis, Mads Tolling and Sheldon Brown.

Previous Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros shows have sold out, so if you really wanted to see them, you can pre-order the tickets (which went on sale on June 25th).

Virginia venue Wolf Trap announced their Summer 2021 “Full Capacity” lineup… as part of their Wolf Trap’s 50thAnniversary Season.

The nonprofit The Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts is the official partner to the National Park Service in providing concert and performance programming within the Park. The venue reminds me of our own Cedar Cultural Center… except without the national park partnership.

Dog lover Remi Wolf (she wrote “You're A Dog!”, “I'm Allergic To Dogs!”, “We Love Dogs!”, etc) recently released her new standalone solo track “Liz”.

Apparently the song isn’t that new - Wolf would perform “Liz” at her live shows, but only recently decide to release an official version as a thank you to her loyal fans: “I wanted to share “Liz" as a gift to my little Remjobs who have been with me since the beginning and have been asking for this song everyday over the last few years. I’ve been performing “Liz" on tour for forever and to finally have a studio version I’m proud of and can share with my OG babies feels like a weight has been lifted off my chest. This record shows a different side of my work...I felt so happy and free creating this song and I hope it makes whoever is listening feel the same.”

I just am so sick of people pussy footing around something that is not only a better lifestyle to live, but makes more sense to humankind. So I’m gonna be the mother f**ker that stands up and says ‘I’m non-monogamous, and if you’re not, you’re a f**king idiot.’”

Where ‘Astronaut In The Ocean’ is about not being where I should be, this song is about me feeling like I’ve found my place and finally gliding through the environment I was born to be in.” Masked Wolf is referring to his Top 40 (at #10) radio hit song “Astronaut In The Ocean”. SKOTT skottmusic.com “Wolf” (acoustic version) is the new single from critically acclaimed Swedish singer, songwriter, and producer Skott. The song is taken from her Chapter I (Acoustic) EP. Apparently, the stripped-down “Wolf” version was a result of Katy Perry, as Skott said, “I wrote it about the lonely sound of heartbreak, and then all of a sudden Katy Perry’s tweeting me about it. I wanted to make a stripped down version where the lyrics have even more room to do their thing, in a calmer landscape than the more orchestral-ish original. This has always been my favorite song to sing live.”
