Japanese noise band Boris will be headlining the Fine Line on October 9, 2024. Their latest Cry -狂叫-, was a split release with The Melvins. However, for this new tour, the band will be playing songs off their debut album Amplifier Worship… featuring two drummers and an extended backline, this will be a Boris tour not to miss.

We saw Boris in Aug 2014 and wrote, “It's hard for someone like me trying to describe Boris to you. While most people will put them into the drone category, when you see them live, they go beyond that. From experimental to a little sludge to metal to shoegaze ... and unexpectedly even a little pop rock!”

We the band in Oct 2019, and wrote, “As for the Starcrawler’s Turf Club show, it started with a pulse pounding drumming from Austin Smith. This is quickly followed by some bass from Tim Franco… then joining them on stage was guitarist Henri Cash in his Jack White-ish cowboy outfit. This jamming only serves to introduce us to singer Arrow de Wilde, dressed like a zombie ballerina, as she starts dancing and singing “Home Alone”.”

Minnesota-born artist Humbird (Siri Undlin) is on tour in support of her new album Right On. The singer will return to the Turf Club on May 31, 2024.

We saw Humbird in 02 Dec 2023 and said, “Humbird< opened the evening as the crowd slowly ambled in. We caught them at the Fine Line exactly a month ago, opening for Mipso. Again it was Siri Undlin on lead vocal and guitar with Pat Keen on upright bass providing some grooved solos with a “Go Pat Go!” coming from the crowd. After launching into a funky space duo in “Free Life,” Undlin said she just released a new song “Child of Violence” and it was the first time she got hate mail, which she and Keen welcomed, but wanted to hear it face-to-face, preferably at the merch table. To get into the holiday spirit they invited their friend, Clifton on fiddle, to the stage to play a “deranged” Xmas song. It was not so much psychotic as a haunting lament with loose strands of “Greensleeves” hemmed throughout.”

Kiss the Tiger to open. I saw the local band a few times, the latest in Oct 2023: “Kiss the Tiger is fronted by dynamic lead singer Meghan Kreidler, with rhythm guitarist Michael Anderson, guitarist Bridger Fruth, bassist Paul DeLong, and drummer Jay DeHut. They played their new single, “There You Are (Beautiful)” in the middle of the set, followed by an old favorite, “Hold On To Love”, which held The Current’s Chart Show Hall of Fame for the #1 spot for nine straight weeks. My personal favorite is Kiss the Tiger’s set closer, “Elliot Park”, featuring the catchy audience participation “alright oh yeah”. ”

The King Khan & BBQ Show is returning to the Minneapolis area, at the Fine Line Music Café this Sep 2nd.

We’ve seen “Brown James Brown” King Khan solo and Mark Sultan (BBQ) solo, but together, they’re a unique rock force. The last time we saw the duo together was in Nov 2009, at the Triple Rock Social Club and described them as “The King Khan & BBQ Show, they are an interesting modern band with minimalistic setup and plays a weird mixture of 50s doo-wop and Surf music. They've got a ton of fans, who lined up hours before the show.”
