The new album is a return to form, with singer and songwriter Luke Pritchard explaining, “It’s not about going back to the first album’s sound, but to the roots of our influences and asking, ‘What is the identity of this band?’”
Speaking of their first album, Inside In / Inside Out, it was one of the hottest record of 2006. It had six great singles, including “Eddie’s Gun” and “Sofa Song” and sold over 2 million worldwide, reaching #2 on the UK album charts.
With all the success of the debut album, the group finally turned their attention to the USA in 2007, doing a promotional tour for their hot album. On their first album and first international tour, the band was still very young and was influenced by the Libertines, Thin Lizzy, and elements of the 60s British pop movement.
The band did not play Minneapolis in 2007, so we had to see them at the sold-out show at the Metro, in Chicago, on Cinco de Mayo 2007, and as you can see from the photograph by Brody, the lead singer Luke Pritchard (age 22 at the time), stage diving and full of energy. As mentioned in the original report, there were many people from Minneapolis, driving to Chicago to see the Kooks on their first USA tour.

These guy are from Brighton, and they stole their name from a David Bowie song. They've only have one release Inside In/Inside Out (Jan 2006), but they are well loved by their fans.
Nothing really stood out at this show, the lead singer did some crowd surfing (which the venue has a strict policy against crowd surfing and stage diving with their signage as you enter the venue!)
I saw about three other people from Minneapolis (which basically means that the Kooks decided to skip Minneapolis in favor of Chicago.)
