English singer and songwriter Bat for Lashes (aka Natasha Khan) has teamed up with acclaimed harpist Lara Somogyi for a special 5-track EP of harp reimaginings of Bat For Lashes’ songs. Available December 6, 2024 , via Mercury KX label… but you can preview “Christmas Day (Harp Visions)” online right now.
How this came about was when Khan saw Lara Somogyi perform in London earlier this year, and was inspired to arrange her songs with the harp arrangements. The pair duetted in Kingston’s St John’s Church at the Dream of Delphi launch show, and Natasha visited Lara’s home studio in Joshua Tree this summer to arrange the full 5 track EP and 5 accompanying instrumental versions.
“It was really fun working with Lara on this collection of songs to recreate something so musically improvised and all over the place.” explains Natasha; “Lara brought her own beautiful versions of the piano chords to the studio, and when she played them I was so touched it made me cry to hear it. So pure and vulnerable.”

Supergroup Fantastic Cat, featuring Anthony D'Amato, Brian Dunne, Don DiLego, and Mike Montali (from Hollis Brown), is back again, ready to ruin Christmas with their covers of Lindsey Buckingham’s “Holiday Road” and José Feliciano’s “Feliz Navidad.”
“When Kesha released her cover of ‘Holiday Road’ last week, we thought, ‘Great! We'll promote her version and she can promote ours,’” the band explains. “But no one from her team has gotten back, and we're beginning to think we have the wrong email address.”
Also, “Feliz Navidad” was performed with members of the Queens-based Mariachi Corazon De Mexico.
The holiday singles follow Fantastic Cat’s critically acclaimed sophomore album, Now That’s What I Call Fantastic Cat.

Los Angeles’ Sara Noelle is continuing her annual tradition of sharing new Christmas music with one new original song, “Little Dove” and a version of a standard, “Silent Night.” This is her fifth annual holiday release, created with producer and frequent collaborator Dan Duszynski. Prior original Christmas songs include “Winter’s Glow,” “I’ll Sleep ‘Til Christmas,” “Like Snow (Slowly Falling)” and “Christmas at Sea.”
““Little Dove” was inspired by a mourning dove that lived outside my window for a couple of months. I loved the routine of waking up every morning to check on her, noticing her patterns throughout the day and seeing her mate and hatchling born and eventually leave the nest. I love the sound of their call (what you hear in the song is actually her!) Feeling the kinship with animals is a grounding feeling – reminding us that we’re all connected on this earth – their behaviors aren’t that different from us humans. I liked the idea of writing a holiday song about her and viewing her as my “Christmas angel” like the song sings.”
Noelle is currently working on her fourth album, which is due out next year. She also edits the print literary journal Lyrics as Poetry, which is releasing its fifth volume in early 2025.
