Opening the show was local singer/songwriter Hemma, who sings about grief and healing and seems to be inspired by Joni Mitchell. Her biography mentioned that she comes from a large family of singers and sometimes she’s with a full band (but it seems easier for traveling as a soloist).
Songs that she played and mentioned were “Patterns” (with the funky beats), “Home”, and “Buckskin Pony” (which she had to not use the pre-recorded background music).
She said that she has a new album coming out and that she was going to preview her new single, “Lullabies”, which was officially released August 1.
If you like what you’ve heard, she’s playing the 331 Club in Minneapolis, on August 21st.
Before Infinity Song took the stage, their father, John Boyd, came on to make a brief announcement and introduction. He said he’s wearing two hats, one as the band’s manager and organizer, and two as a proud father. As the crowd cheer and claps, you can just see it in his eyes that it was all worth it.

Although they also mentioned they might have been here earlier (perhaps only Momo, as she appeared with Victory in 2018 to open for Chaka Khan). It definitely wasn’t their first Minneapolis rodeo, for sure.

The family (Abraham, Angel, Israel and Momo Boyd) was previously in choir and had always had great harmony, as you can hear for yourself. They were on America’s Got Talent and appeared on the View… but it wasn’t until someone sent Jay-Z a clip of the band busking in Central Park that really blew them up. That’s basically how they signed with Roc Nation.
I have to say that I’ve never seen an audience so into the band. They were loud, they brought all their friends (large groups of passionate fans), they were all ready to participate and help sing along. This was a very engaged audience.
The siblings covered one song, it was Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams.” The song went over really well with the fans.
Infinity Song’s new album Metamorphosis Complete is out now on Roc Nation.
