Shakey Graves is returning to the Minneapolis/St Paul, this July 14, 2024, headlining the Palace Theatre. Shakey Graves, aka Alejandro Rose-Garcia, was previously an actor in such shows as Friday Night Lights and Spy Kids.

We saw Shakey Graves in Oct 2022 and noted, “What a great stage name for Alejandro Rose-Garcia as if acknowledging those from beyond still might have a few more dance moves. Born and raised in Austin, Texas, he got his start as a solo act, hustling as a busker with a kick-drum made from a Samsonite suitcase.”

Can you believe that Redd Kross is back? And with a new eponymous double-album, set for a June 28, 2024, via In the Red Records. This group started in 1979 between a 15 year old named Jeff McDonald and his 11 year old brother Steven. As I previously mentioned, when I was a DJ at KFSR 90.7 FM, we used to play their music in the early 90s… so these guys are old (in the best way).

We accidentally saw Steve McDonald at NXNE in June 2011 and wrote, “Ty Segall was the headliner, who came on stage with double sunglasses. Prior to playing "Annette's Got the Hits", Ty was asking for "Steve". Turns out, bassist Steve McDonald is from Redd Kross, a band that we covered heavily at KFSR 90.7FM when I was still DJing. That's actually an indication of how long Redd Kross has been around. Anyway, apparently Ty Segall was a huge Redd Kross fan, so this was a dream come true for him.”

Rosali is on tour in support of Bite Down out now on Merge Records. Rosali explains the title, “I had a string of conversations with close friends and family during the first year of the pandemic and a lot of talk that would circle around to everything feeling pointless. ‘Bite Down’ is about perseverance over the drowning depression with a prayer to come up for air, to keep living. In our isolation, finding community and support is necessary. We can find freedom when we find humility and compassion for others and are able to receive the same. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, everything has a price — energetically speaking — we are responsible for each other and for all living things.”

We previously saw Rosali in May 2022 and wrote, “The evening began with a well received forty-five minute from Philadelphia’s Rosali (stylized as ROSALI) in support of third album, last year’s No Medium. The singer-songwriter is aka Rosali Middleman and the guitarist for The Long Hots and was backed by members of acclaimed Nebraska band the David Nance Group for their first Lawrence appearance. Their music has been previously described as “Chrissie Hynde fronting Crazy Horse” but the vocals often have more of an Aimee Mann lightness about them, though it can also quickly move from electric folk to a more meaty, dense and louder blend.”
