Opening up the show was New York/Berlin-based musician and multimedia Discovery Zone (aka artist JJ Weihl).
I thought the Discovery Zone set was really good, but it felt more like an art project, rather than a typical concert. Weihl spends her time behind her keyboards, while a projector is showing custom graphics on a transparent screen (set to each song). Sometime she would let the music play, while she walks on the dancefloor, singing.
The music is something you might hear at a weird 80s Science show, really calming and synthy. The music is just so different than Julia Holter, with her full band, featuring bassist Dev Hoff, percussionist Elizabeth Goodfellow, synth/bagpipe Tashi Wada, and mixing/sound Kenny Gilmore.

Holter has a good, dedicated fanbase, some travelling as far as Canada to be at the Fine Line. They’ve seen her multiple times, telling me when she was here in March 2016, that she had allergies and kept sneezing. You can watch the “Sneeze Mix” version on nodeachunter.
Thankfully, there was no sneezing incident to report during the Fine Line show.
