By the time the group took the stage, the dancefloor at the 7th Street Entry was completely packed. It was hot and sweaty, and singer Tina Halladay already had a stage fan blowing on her the whole time.
The band has a 70s rock and punk sound, releasing 7-inch EPs in 2014, and then the group exploded when they were included in Rolling Stone’s “10 New Artists You Need To Know.”
Pretty soon, they found themselves on Coachella’s bill, found themselves on Late Night with Seth Meyers… and now their first record with Third Man Records with Playing Favorites.
Highlight of their set was members of opening band Dusk showed up on “Moonstruck” to play some bongos.
Dusk is a large band from Wisconsin. They had several lead singers, including the drummer and keys player. They were fun, they sounded like jam-rock/country rock, and I’m not sure if their music paired well with Sheer Mag. Still, the group looks like they were having the time of their lives on stage, playing songs from their new album Glass Pastures, available on Don Giovanni Records.
Local group Citric Dummies was the first opening band. The metal group was pretty funny, they just didn’t give a damn about anything and gave out their CDs to the audience. Songs on their set includes murder and going to Arby’s (and a weird reference to Ben Folds Five). If the music thing doesn’t work out, they can always do stand-up comedy.
