Although previously advertised as 26 BATS! to open, the band announced two weeks ago that they had to step down due to “personal reasons.”
Instead, we got two bands as support… both were very excited to play the 7th Street Entry.
The first was four-piece band LESLIE, featuring band leader Leslie Johnson on vocals and guitar, Molly Murray on keyboard, Spencer Gosewisch on bass, and Andrew Valentine on drums.
They covered Joy Division’s “Twenty Four Hours”, which suggests that the band is more post-punk than psychedelic (based on their hippy-ish looks).
LESLIE did play a little longer than the allotted time, leaving the next band Lazenlow to quickly setup and ready to go. Lazenlow was a little livelier, thanks to the outgoing personality of vocalist Gillian Needham, who commanded the spotlight.
She was really excited to announced that all her co-workers was in the audience, as well as her father, from Virginia. Even her husband is playing guitar in the band, making this a truly family event.
They were fun, playing songs like “First Avenue” (because “you have to”) and “Messiah”. They ended their 30-min set with “Restless.”
Gilda House (11 Sep 2023)

Gilda House had a whole custom light setup (controlled by someone off stage), as well as a thick smoke machine and the whole flashy show came off looking like a dark disco. It encouraged fans to dance along with Meg, who had some moves as she sings songs like “You’re Invited” and “BE EDISE.”
The other two band members, Nick Miles and Tony Morales prefers to stay in the shadows, leaving the attention to Meg. Hopefully, we’ll see the trio again in the near future.
