Singer Geoff Rickly mentioned on stage that when they released and toured for the album in 2003, the band didn’t really like the new songs … but twenty years later, “now, we f******* love these songs!!!!”
Rickly also shared a funny story about the first time they were playing Minneapolis. Three days before the show, he got food poisoning from Denny’s. Driving on their way to the city, they spotted a hospital, and he demanded the tour bus pull over and check him in. After a treatment, he was able to recover and played Minneapolis.
He mentioned that fluids were coming out, he may have thrown up a little while singing… Comparing it to now, he said, “I feel much better now.”
Despite being 20 years older, the band is still in tip-top shape, as they play War All The Time from start to finish, in its entirety.
Opening the show was Many Eyes, a very new band, created by former Every Time I Die singer Keith Buckley. Despite playing only their 7th or 8th show and with only a three-track EP, the band is very seasoned with plenty of songs to play.
“Future Proof” was dedicated to the fans in the front row who was digging and headbanging to the music.
The other opener, was New York City’s Rival Schools, an alternative rock band from the 2000s. The band features members of Quicksand, Gorilla Biscuits, and CIV, and has a strong fanbase… as singer Walter Schreifels mentioned that he’s played Minneapolis, “many, many times.”
As you can see from the pictures, Steve, from Thursday, is actually playing in Rival Schools, which is very cool when you see him again with the headliner.
Near the end of their set, Rival Schools dedicated “Hooligans for Life” to Thursday.
The Thursday’s War All The Time is a must-see if you’re a fan of the album from twenty years ago that made the band famous. This tour offers a nostalgic reflection of the band, while offering to support new/emerging bands like Many Eyes, as well as supporting their friends Rival Schools.
