The Bad Plus Setlist

Opening the show was Alan Sparhawk (of Low). The most interesting thing is that he’s joined on stage with Shahzad Ismaily, from Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog, playing percussion instruments and keys, whatever the songs may need.
We haven’t heard from Sparkhawk since his appearance with Yo La Tengo in March 2023, writing, “During “I Heard You Looking” Alan Sparhawk from Low nonchalantly stepped onto the stage and manned the keyboard to join in on the jam session that had Kaplan switching between three guitars. It was by far their longest and best song of the evening.”
Based on Marc Ribot’s Ceramic Dog hour-long set, I would describe this show as a co-headliner show with Marc Ribot. The trio (Marc Ribot on guitar/vocals, Shahzad Ismaily on bass, and Ches Smith on drums) played songs like “We Are Soldiers in the Army” (a song featuring Fay Victor) and “Ecstasy” (played near the end of their set).

After an hour of playing live, it felt like Marc Ribot was only just warming up. You get the impression that the guy could play for another eight hours without running out of songs.
The Bad Plus closed out the night. The quartet (formerly a trio), features bassist Reid Anderson, drummer David King, guitarist Ben Monder, and tenor saxophonist Chris Speed. They had a strong local support from the jazz community… but also progressive music lovers.
The big highlight of the evening was a special appearance from Greg Norton, of Hüsker Dü, who helped played the song “Sick Fire.”
I was hoping for the band to play their Radiohead cover (with appeared on Exit Music: Songs with Radio Heads), but they mainly stuck to songs from their self-titled 15th studio album that came out in 2022.
