Beloved Minneapolis indie rock band 12 Rods is back with a new album, If We Stayed Alive, their first release in twenty-one years.
The new single, “Private Spies” was previewed and lead songwriter Ryan Olcott adds, “Private Spies is about those of us who control and document the finest rumors, secrets and gossip in our communities. Written over 20 years ago amidst my power faction research in socialite Minneapolis. Probably my hardest song to sing because of the massive amount of embedded data translated from the captured intel.”
Pitchfork loves 12 Rods, so naturally, they added the If We Stayed Alive album on their “The 46 Most Anticipated Albums of Summer 2023.”
If We Stayed Alive, 12 Rods’ fifth studio full-length is slated for release on July 7th via Husky Pants Records and American Dreams Records.
In support of the album, 12 Rods will hold their record release show in Minneapolis, at First Avenue, on July 14th. This is the band’s first live performance since 2015.
