KT Tunstall just finished her US / Canada 2023 Tour in (of all places) downtown Topeka Kansas at the historic Jayhawk Theatre.
It was a rare treat for the local audience, as this was only the second national touring musical act to come through (the first being Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters, who we also covered), it featured a full headlining set from Tunstall (she's been co-headlining around the country with Martin Sexton, meaning a shortened setlist), and may be the last national music act to play there, before final renovations begin with the State's recent awarding of a $5mil. grant, to fully finish the venue's restoration.
Tunstall delighted the capacity crowd with her own pop hits, worked in several covers, explained some of her songs, and told a few stories.
More info to come!
====
The Scottish musician burst onto the music scene with her multi-platinum debut album Eye to the Telescope, featuring unforgettable hits like “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” and “Suddenly I See.”
Tunstall’s unique blend of introspective folk and propulsive rock has made her a captivating and must-see performer. Recently, she has expanded on her musical style by focusing on a trilogy of records that explore the concepts of soul, body and mind. Her latest album NUT, produced by Martin Terefe, draws on Tunstall’s love of West African rhythms to create an eclectic and seamless blend of styles.
Exploring themes of personal evolution and the development of unique identities, Tunstall’s music is vibrant and meaningful.
