Atlanta-bred rock band Algiers are touring in support of their fourth album Shook (Matador Records).

The band will play the 7th Street Entry, in Minneapolis, fresh off their appearance at SXSW in Austin, Texas.

We saw Algiers in Sep 2021 and said, “Originally formed in London, with the release of “Blood” in 2012, via Double Phantom Records, Algiers (singer and pianist Franklin James Fisher, bassist Ryan Mahan, guitarist Lee Tesche, and drummer Matt Tong) is based in Atlanta, and produces some interesting dub-style sound, industrial, and Afrobeat sound. Some songs sounds political, but all their songs are explosive, as seen in their live performance. Bassist Ryan Mahan seemed ready to explode. This just shows me that the band is very passionate about their music and their message.”

Minneapolis’ Products recently announced that they’ve signed to Los Angeles label Solid Brass Records. Perhaps it’s to make their name more Google-friendly, it would seem they’re now listed as Products Band as an official band title… but I’m assuming everyone will likely just call the band ‘Products’.

They’ll be a new album, set for release in 2023 from the new label… stay tuned for more details.

We caught Products in July 2021 and wrote, “Local band Products (Alex on guitar, Jo on vocals, Konner on drums, and Jack on bass) played a quick 30-min set, mostly containing songs from their album Pink Puma. The band recently released a single, “(On Top) A Y'all Tower Of You” yesterday (July 26).”

They promised they’ll be playing new songs off the new record at this upcoming Turf Club show on March 30th. The openers listed for the show is Sass and Killed By Kiwis.

Also, Products are super excited to be playing with their heroes Deerhoof on July 8, 2023. Yes, we like Deerhoof, having seen them a few times … the last time in Georgia in Aug 2016: “Thursday evening’s festivities reached their peak when Deerhoof took the stage at the Georgia Theatre. Singer/bassist Satomi Matsuzaki didn’t just play music during this performance; she led a musical pep rally. She commanded this crowd to dance, wave their arms and Come See The Duck, and they happily did her bidding.”

Can’t wait to see the Deerhoof/Products team-up in July.

London/Minneapolis singer/songwriter Ber is on her “Halfway Across America” tour.

We caught Ber in Dec 2022 and wrote, “Ber aka Berit Dybing then took the stage but with some minor complications. That’s what makes 7th Street Entry such a fun musical venue. It’s an incubation tube for new bands and those bands are their own roadies, and they are only a few feet from the audience as they set up their equipment. For a time the band worked on connecting Mike’s (drummer) ear piece. Then Ber’s main mic wasn’t working, which was an important piece of equipment for a lead singer. No matter. Ber was game and set aside any awkwardness by chatting and taking selfies with the crowd.”
