All Tomorrow's Petty
with Caroline Smith,
Mason Jennings,
Diane and more!
at Turf Club

The Tom Petty tribute band, All Tomorrow’s Petty, described themselves as “not a ‘tribute’ band”. Instead, they think like a party that you go to… and maybe you hear some songs written by Petty.
Opening will be Caroline Smith… who is billing under her original name. We’ve been writing about Smith since Sep 2008, when she had a full band: Caroline Smith & The Good Night Sleeps.
It’s so weird to see Smith grow as an artist, starting with folk singer/songwriter to something more like 60s soul music. Then for a time, she reinvented herself as Your Smith.
Personally speaking, I like Your Smith’s stagename… even though it must be hard when everyone knew you as Caroline Smith. I can understand going back to using that name.
Mason Jennings and Diane also on the bill.

The Pretty Random But What Happened to the Heiruspecs album release party for Heiruspecs, hosted by Longshot, will take place at the Turf Club on December 23rd.
The large hip-hop band (Felix, Muad'dib, Twinkie Jiggles, dVRG, Peter Leggett, Josh Peterson) have been around since the late 90s. If you’re into Rhymesayers and The Roots, you’ll like these guys.
HEYARLO, Nakara Forjé and DJ Christian Fritz to open.
The band writes:
We are releasing a new album that day and we are celebrating with Nakara Forjé, Heyarlo, Host Longshot and DJ Christian Fritz.
Our best advice is to buy tickets now so you can enjoy this awesome lineup and celebration.

Run Westy Run
with Annie and the Bang Bang
at 7th St Entry
first-avenue.com
What are you doing Christmas Day? We know what local group Run Westy Run (featuring three brothers Kirk, Kyle, and Kraig Johnson) will be doing… they’re playing their annual Christmas/Holiday show. We first mentioned their Xmas shows in Dec 2015… but their Christmas shows probably go back for decades.
Run Westy Run took their name from the children’s book by Gudrun Alcock, about a rebellious pre-teen runaway named Westy. They first came to fame in the 90s with a North and Mid-West tour with Soul Asylum… and since then have established themselves as local heroes.
Open the show will be Annie and the Bang Bang… fronted by songwriter, and guitarist Annie Enneking.
The band writes:
Tickets now on sale for Christmas night in the 7th St Entry!
