Lynn is the most awarded female country recording artist and the only female ACM Artist of the Decade, scoring 24 No. 1 hit singles and 11 number one albums.
The acclaimed singer and songwriter signed to major label Decca Records in 1961, and had her first top 10 hit for the company with “Success” in 1962 (a song that was covered by Sinead O’Connor as “Success Has Made a Failure of Our Home” in 1992).
Lynn dominated the country singles charts for a decade from the 60s to the 70s, which included “Blue Kentucky Girl”, “You Ain’t Woman Enough”, “Don’t Come Home A-Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind)”, “What Kind of a Girl (Do You Think I Am?)”, “Fist City”,“Your Squaw Is on the Warpath” and “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”
In 2004, superfan Jack White, of The White Stripes, helped reignited her career by producing her album Van Lear Rose. Lynn and White were nominated for five Grammys and won two.
After nearly 60 years on on the road, she retired after her stroke in 2017.
