Country Stampede at the Heartland is an outdoor music festival featuring country music stars, camping, and more in Topeka, Kansas at Heartland Motorsports Park, held annually since 1996. Due to flooding concerns, the event moved to its current location from Manhattan, KS in 2019.

The heat index remained in the triple-digits for Day 2, but a warm breeze helped temper things somewhat. The action on stage and plentiful food and beverage options kept the party in the heartland going

Lubbock, TX modern traditionalist Randall King opened the day in support of his album, Shot Glass and may be one of those names to watch and can say you saw him when.

Wyoming native Ian Munsick would follow, with a spirited and solid set and confident stage demeanor, making him a name to remember. He peppered in a couple of covers- The Jackson 5 song showed off his falsetto and ability to hold a high note, and the Fleetwood Mac cover of “Dreams” was laid back and easy going.

Craig Morgan showed off what it means to have longevity and be a still-relevant veteran of the industry. Always led by faith, family, and country, he mentioned his upcoming memoir due out in September and gave the crowd a live preview of his upcoming single to country radio, his first in five years.

The Maryland/Indiana duo Locash (stylized as LOCASH) dutifully got the crowd in more of a festive spirit, in support of their latest EP, Woods & Water, out at the end of last year. In addition to their own hits like “I Love this Life”, there was a jukebox medley which took a half-dozen familiar covers, to get the crowd dancing.

Florida native Jake Owen closed the night, in support of latest full-length, Greetings from... Jake, his first on the Big Loud label, after leaving RCA. Newer songs like “Down to the Honkytonk” and the Mellencamp-sampled, “I Was Jack (You Were Diane)” fit in well alongside older classics like “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” and his first breakout single, “Yee Haw”.
