Influential emo/punk band Jawbreaker is celebrating their 25th Anniversary of Dear You with a new 2022 tour. Although the band started in 1986, they gain popularly when they relocated to Los Angeles and released their debut album Unfun in 1990.

By 1993, their status skyrocketed by touring with Nirvana… and they signed a $1 million contract with DGC Records. So their album, Dear You, was their first major label record. Since the record came out in 1995, the math doesn’t add up for this “25th Anniversary”. However, if you think about it, this tour was probably delayed for two years due to COVID.

Anyway, Jawbreaker will be in Minneapolis at the Fillmore on April 10th. Dillinger Four and the Smoking Popes will open.

Multi-Platinum DC trio Shaed recently shared their cover of Nirvana’s “Come As You Are”, in celebrating of the song’s 30th Anniversary.

The band said:

It doesn’t matter if you’re 13 or 70 - chances are you’ve heard "Come As You Are" and can sing along - it’s just that good and timeless. We wanted our version to feel classic but danceable and we landed on something that we hope feels like the love child of Fleetwood Mac and Daft Punk.

On their Facebook, they added additional details:

When we recorded Come As You Are I was super pregnant, could barely sing, and just wanted to eat frozen mangoes on the couch. We jammed for hours, Max in the family room on bass, Spence in the studio on drums and me in our makeshift vocal booth in the guest bedroom… we did this until we finally found a vibe that had baby June kicking in my belly so we took that as a good sign. Thank you all so much for listening

Shaed’s debut album, High Dive, came out in 2021, via Photo Finish Records.
