We saw Glass Animals earlier in Bonner Springs in Sept 2021 and wrote, “Often, the best nights to see a show at an outdoor amphitheater are later in the season – the air is cool and crisp, less of a rain chance, and none of the oppressive summer heat and humidity. On such a night with a chill in the air, Glass Animals decided to host a pool party for some 18,000 of their area friends. With a set looking like a hotel pool deck, complete with pastel colors, neon lights, a diving board, palm trees, and basketball goal, with a backdrop that was fashioned after a late ‘80s computer terminal screen (with accompanying 8-bit graphics), the band played to its largest area crowd to date on their Dreamland Tour (which continues for almost another year).”
The band returns to Minneapolis, set to play the Armory on March 17th.

Sparks
at The Fitzgerald Theater

One of our favorite shows of 2015 was the Franz Ferdinand and Sparks collaboration show, billed as FFS.
The legendary art-pop duo Sparks is back, billed under the title Sparks 2022, they are headlining the Fitzgerald Theater in St Paul. Recently the band released the soundtrack to Annette (Milan Records).
The soundtrack was actually originally intended to be a Sparks studio album, but after meeting with director Leos Carax after a meeting at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013, the band decided to rework and it as a movie soundtrack.
Of the collaboration, SPARKS say, “Initially, we conceived Annette as another Sparks album. Yet this time it would be a narrative story that would consist of three main characters, a small enough ensemble that would allow us to also present the ‘opera’ live on tour... The music, story and album were finished and ready to go, which is where the story takes a huge detour. After meeting Leos at Cannes, we felt a real kinship, so we thought we would send him Annette, not expecting anything other than to show him what Sparks was currently up to. And lo and behold, he said he really liked the album and would like to consider it as his next project. We were happily surprised and elated at his reaction. As fans of Leos’ films, to now realize that he would be directing a film of ours was beyond our dreams.”

Alternative/electro-pop band Cannons (stylized as CANNONS) will head out on a massive tour in 2022. We saw the band in Nov 2021 and said, “The act we were most anticipating to see, LA-based alternative/electro-pop band CANNONS was next, wowing the audience with a short but sweet thirty-six minute set and since signing with Columbia Records earlier this year they’ve released a four-trackCovers by CANNONS EP, with new full-length due in 2022. The dream pop trio (vocalist Michelle Joy, guitarist Ryan Clapham, and keyboardist Paul Davis, w/Ben on drums) has been a unit since 2013 with two prior albums, but it was the 2020 inclusion of song “Fire for You” in the Netflix comedy-drama series, Never Have I Ever, that really began to turn some music industry heads.”
