Wow, Epic Games has done it again. They’ve been giving away free games every day since the holiday, and today, Thursday, is a triple threat of Tomb Raider Trilogy! Completely free.
Of course, I already own and beat all three games, but if you haven’t tried out the game, now is the best time.
Tomb Raider GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION is the 2013 reboot that started it all. The game was a new direction for Lara Croft, since developers Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix took the helm. At the time, I love the idea of modernizing Tomb Raider, and updating Croft’s new looks.
Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration was a game that I didn’t buy at launch in 2015, because, at the time, the game was exclusive to Xbox. I eventually I bought on the PC. I love the crafting and building my character.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is clearly the headliner here, as it is the last of the trilogy. I bought the game when it originally came out in 2018 and accidentally beat it. This just tells me the game is really short, or I had such a good time playing it that I didn’t realize I was at the end already.
Since so many people are grabbing the games, Epic is having server problems. Sometime, it will display “Wait 24 Hours” messages. This might be a problem if you’re using a VPN. If you want to get around the “24 Hours” error message, you can use your cellphone using cellular connection to get the games for free. If you are still experiencing the error messages, try “adding to cart” and check them all out at once. Since the games are free until January 6, 2022, you can always wait 24 hours to see if the error message goes away.
I wish I had the time, but I would love to go back and revist the games again.
