Local musician Andrew Broder opened the show. Broder is also in the trio Fog (not to be confused with England’s The Fog), who released For Good, and went on a world tour with Polica in 2016.
For the Fine Line show, Broder is strictly doing DJ stuff… cranking handles, pushing buttons, and staring intensely at a laptop screen. Admittedly watching DJs doing their thing isn’t always the most exciting thing, but that’s not the point. The point is putting out music to get the crowd to move… and it did get the audience to bop, rave, and dance.
It’s been a long time since Broder was back on the stage, you can tell he seemed really excited to be performing again.
Kelly Lee Owens started her set in complete darkness, hidden under a hooded robe playing a cover of Radiohead’s “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi”.
As movie projected on the canvas at the back of the stage, you see Owens in her sheer dress, singing “Keep Walking”.

Off topic, but in reading up on Kelly Lee Owens, I found out that when she first moved to London, she interned at XL Recordings and ended up playing bass in The History of Apple Pie. We actually wrote about that band in Nov 2012 and said how Graham Coxon (Blur) was a massive fan.
