Alternative rock nerds They Might Be Giants had to rescheduled their Flood Anniversary tour to 2021. As with these Anniversary shows, the duo will be playing their entire Flood “Brand New Album for 1990” in its entirety. As I previously mentioned, Flood, is one of those albums that just had hit after hit, and I know the entire album, backwards and forwards... and I’m assuming other fans are in the same boat and knows all the songs just as well. Having said that, most of the original Flood dates are original sold out.
Not a surprise that 90% of their dates are sold out, considering that TMBG’s fanbase is a dedicated lot, and the band is a really fun band to see live. The last time we saw them, in March 2018, we said, “On their most successful tour so far, cult favorites They Might Be Giants (abbreviated as TMBG) are selling out almost every city on this I Like Fun tour, with First Avenue in Minneapolis, being no exception. The show may have been over-sold, as every corner of First Avenue was packed full of fans. It’s no secret that they’ve built up a massive fanbase since forming in 1982. Seeing how ravenous their fans reminded me of seeing the same kind of devotions from juggalos at an Insane Clown Posse show… except, of course, TMBG fans are well-dressed (bowties and sometime fez!) and promote that “Science is Real”.”
Anyway, in addition to the tour, a special Flood picture disk was also re-issued, featuring original album cover art as well as a brand new animated psychedelic zoetrope image of TMBG ephemera created by Paul Sahre.
