We love New York’s We Are Scientists and was happy to see that they are back with a new single called, “I Cut My Own Hair” (watch the video on YouTube). This is the first official release since their 2018 album Megaplex.
Obviously, with the lockdown, the band wrote a song about attempting to cut their own hair, a skill that guitarist/singer Keith Murray would explain: “I’ve been cutting my own hair for years now, so one silver lining of this cloudy life in quarantine is that this behavior, which others used to consider a sign of some flaw in my character, has now become an enviable skill. When I wrote the song last year, I was self-identifying as an outsider. Now, I guess, it’s become more an anthem of unification; everybody is cutting their own hair, like it or not. In a way, it’s pretty nice that the rest of the world — the formerly-professionally-hairdressed majority — has gotten a little closer to knowing the essential, questionably-coiffed Keith Murray.”
We Are Scientists’ new single “I Cut My Own Hair” came out May 22, 2020, via 100% Records.

Atlanta R&B singer/songwriter Mariah the Scientist released her first 2020 single called “RIP” via RCA Records. The song is a slow-drip ballad about finding a way to end the pain and is the first new music from Mariah since the release of her critically acclaimed debut album, Master (thanks to its 10M streams).
The Master album will be celebrating its one-year anniversary this August 2020, which hopefully, if the COVID situation is over, Mariah is planning on returning to the road to celebrate the anniversary.
In the meantime, “RIP” came out May 22, 2020, on RCA Records.

Filipino actress, model, and general internet celebrity, Ellen Adarna semi-recently showcased her piano skills, as she covered Coldplay’s “The Scientist. The Instagram video got over one million views with over a thousand comments.
The 32-year-old actress said she’s taking a long break from acting, after giving birth to her song, Elias, in 2018. In an interview, she said, “I want to be with my son in his formative years. I'm a very hands-on mom.”
