Exes opened the show. The Los Angeles duo (singer Allie McDonald and producer Mike Derenzo) was touring for their new singles “Clapping on TV” and “Girl of my Dreams”.
The duo comment about the song, “When we set out to make the album, we knew we wanted to have a feature that would allow us to do a really different kind of song. Luke [Wild] came into the studio with the idea for 'Girl of My Dreams' and we instantly loved it. It is not a love song. It is not a song about falling--it’s a song about falling apart. It’s a song about a flame burning brightest just before it goes out. Shout out Studio City at night.”
This was the duo’s first time in Minnesota, and mentioned that they’ve “Never meant to make it this far.”
Songs on their setlist, they mentioned had titles like “Never Forget” and “Keep It Quiet”.
At the end of their set, they asked a fan, “Are you Jenna?” recognizing their fan, adding “Happy anniversary! The next song is dedicated to them.”
If you didn’t know, Adrian Galvin (his brother is actor and singer Noah Galvin), was a member of Walk the Moon and Yellerkin, before striking out on his own under the stagename Yoke Lore. Clearly, he had bigger ambition of being a musician, as well as dancer (in the dance group Boomerang), visual artist, and song writer.
Yoke Lore has a lot of talent, and it shows with his latest single, “Dead Ringer” and “Beige”.
There were a lot of fans, who was already familiar with Yoke Lore, being big fans from internet radio and streaming services. In fact, Taylor Swift is a big fan, and added his cover of Savage Garden’s “Truly Madly Deeply” on her Songs Taylor Loves playlist…. Which of course, was a big highlight of Yoke Lore’s setlist.
