We all heard that Tom Petty died on Monday. There was a little confusion, as CBS and the LAPD jumped the gun and reported his death earlier than the official time of death. They walked back the death report, but ultimately by 9pm we learned that he passed away.
The news of his death seemed untimely, as just weeks before (late September 2017), he was playing three sold out nights at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles…. Ending his extensive North American tour celebrating the 40th anniversary of their self-titled debut.
Petty also dabbed in acting, appearing in the film The Postman, starring Kevin Costner. He also had a reoccurring role as the voice of Elroy “Lucky” Kleinschmidt in King of the Hill.
