Anyway, ‘Wall of Glass’ is the debut solo single by Liam Gallagher. The songwriter credit lists Liam and Greg Kurstin. If the latter name sounds familiar, that’s because he’s the man who co-wrote Adele’s ‘Hello’ (the song broke several records, including the first song to sell over a million digital copies in a week).
‘Wall of Glass’ was released 31 May 2017 and reached #60 on the UK Charts, thanks in part to Liam Gallagher making a surprise appearance (with Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland) at the much-watched One Love Manchester on June 2nd. He sandwiched the new single between two Oasis crowd pleasers, ‘Rock N’ Roll Star’ and ‘Live Forever’. Say what you will, but that’s a brilliant move.
‘Wall of Glass’ is actually not a bad song, delivering some great guitar hooks and that unique singing style of Liam Gallagher. No one sings like Liam, with his extended vowels and northern accent.
If that’s an indication, I can’t wait to hear the rest of the debut solo album from Liam Gallagher. As with any record release, that will be followed by a promotional tour, which we’re really looking forward to seeing him again. The last time we saw Liam, it was in December 2011.
