Alt-rock band Mother Mother is currently on tour. The band recently released ‘Love Stuck’ single, taken from their new 2017 album No Culture (Def Jam Recordings/Universal Music Canada Inc.).
We saw the band in 2013 and noted, ‚ÄúFor those unfamiliar, Mother Mother is a 5 piece electro band interlaced with an 80 ºs pop style. Needless to say they ºve got an insatiable rad look with catchy lyrics. The band ºs fourth album ‚ÄúThe Sticks‚Äù was released last year with solid reviews from the Vancouver Province and Toronto Star. Canadian radio has to have a high amount of Canadian bands inhabiting the airways, so bands from Canada have usually got it going on (i.e. Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene and Land of talk, just to name a few). Frontman and co-producer of the album Ryan Guldemond has uniqueness for days, with his retro hair and energetic persona onstage.‚Äù

Once again, no actual mothers in this band, but Canada’s Single Mothers will be releasing their sophomore LP Our Pleasure out on June 16th via Dine Alone Records and Big Scary Monsters (UK/Europe).
What has the band been up to since they “broke up in 2009”? They’ve just been out touring... and with the forthcoming album, they’re proving they can also write and play new music.
At the moment, you can pre-order the record with the Meltdown EP (2016) vinyl (the first time it’s been available on wax), and the Skylight 7” which includes two bonus tracks from the Our Pleasure recording sessions. Limited to 500 copies. Details at their bandcamp.

Philadelphia-based Moor Mother teamed up with Mental Jewelry for their collaboration release Crime Waves EP. Due for a June 16th release via Don Giovanni Records.
The label described the release as “The music speaks about systematic violence and racism. From a production standpoint, these tracks bridge avant-classical sounds with modern broken beat/sample based techniques and live instrumentation implemented via laptop.”
Crime Waves will be released digitally and also as a 12” EP limited to 500 copies.
See the two live at Baby Castles in New York on June 30th.

Tottenham-based four-piece Our Mother new song ‘Heaven’ is online now. They recently played The Pickle Factory in London.
The band describe the track as “jitttery percussion clashes with punchy video game samples whilst dominating horns and synths rumble and jolt through catchy choruses and overlapping hooks, soundtracking a world that is entirely of their own making.”
Find out why The Sunday Times called this band “remarkable” on their upcoming Limbs Presents show at the Archspace London on Saturday 17th June. Support from Two Legs and Rainbow Shark.

Progressive soul outfit Vinegar Mother has a debut EP called The Sunny Seat. Originally released in November 2016, but had a special limited edition cassette in March 2017 via Invertebrate Records.
The secret origin of the band actually started in 2012 with founding members Julia Zivic (lead vocals), Itamar Gov-Ari (keys, guitar and vocals) and Jason Zivic (drums) as Julia Zivic & The Brothers in Connecticut. As things changed and relocating to the Big Apple, they became Vinegar Mother with Zack Slaughter (but replaced by Mike Roninson) on bass and Chris Stelluti on saxophone.
