Belchior has died at the age of 70. The singer was one of the first post-bossa nova singer to reached mainstream success in the 70s.
The singer disappeared from public in 2007 and was rarely seen since then. In 2009, Fantástico TV show discovered Belchior living with his wife Edna in a small village in San Gregorio de Polanco, Uruguay, and he basically said he was retired and resting (even though he was working on
Divina Comédia Humana, a Portuguese translation of Dante’s
Divine Comedy).
