Opening up the show with a brief 30-min set was local Wetter, playing their third ever live show.

As expected with the new album Audodrama, released in conjunction of Skylar’s graduation from LACHSA, the group played a healthy selection from the new album in their 35-min set. Many of these songs actually existed as demos with similar/alternative titles, including ‘VI Of $word$’ (‘Six Of Swords’) and set closer ‘W.Y.L.’ (‘Want Your Love’).
Like many of us, particularly because we live in the Minneapolis/St Paul area, the sisters seemed angered by the recent police shooting and expressed an interest in joining the protest march taking place earlier in the day.

Fans of the original debut album may wonder about the different sound direction in Fall Forever, which had a bolder, louder, electronic sound. Apparently after their first world tour, the band saw and learned what they need to do for their future music. According to the band, they “wanted to write an album that would make the stage shake, and we had to work out how we could sound stronger and get our ideas across in a more concise way.”
Setlist |
Normally the band is a trio, featuring singer Jess Weiss, guitarist Daniel Falvey and drummer Michael Miles, but for their live shows, they’ve also added Dog in the Snow’s Helen Ganya Brown as an additional keyboard and sometime bass player. With the extra player, that relieved Weiss from playing an instrument (although she does pick up and play additional guitars on some songs that required it) and giving her the room as a singer and performer.
Fear of Men Fall Forever is out now on Kanine Records.
