The show was held at Skyway Theatre’s Studio B and had a great turnout being that it was a Thursday night. The packed crowd was anxious to hear the old classic songs, and the new songs that proved Saosin was going back to their roots with Green back in the picture.
The Retakes |
Saosin’s Anthony Green is the heart and soul of this band. His voice is truly one of a kind and the energy he gives off at a live show is like nothing you have ever felt before. Before the music even started, Green had found his way to between the stage and barrier as he was attacked by arms and hands of the crowd. He seemed to welcome the physical connection and routinely thanked the crowd for being so into whatever song they were playing, regardless of it was a new one or an old one.
Green's bright blue eyes had the few girls in the crowd swooning and his heavy, yet high pitched, vocals had the guys in the crowd pushing back and forth in the small mosh pit that had formed. Green encouraged people to push their way to the front and to get rowdy which is exactly what they did.
The voice that comes out of Anthony Green is truly like nothing else. It is very high pitched but not an awkward or forced sounding high pitch. There were times where he wouldn't even hold the microphone up to his mouth but he would hold it against his throat creating the vocal effect that is on their recordings. The music was spot on to how it sounds on their albums but the energy made it seem much more upbeat.
Saosin played a very good mix of old and new music. They played for a good hour but it just wasn't enough for the band or the crowd and after a one song encore of ‘Seven Years’. Green and the other members came on stage and formed an impromptu jam session that featured Green on the drums.
Saosin will be joining the Taste of Chaos tour this summer.
