Shane Harper: Like I Did |
Like I Did is out now on Virgin Records.
Jacob Whitesides
|
His main market is Radio Disney, which named Whitesides as their ‘Next Big Thing’ artist. Of course, that meant that his audience is mostly teenage girls (and some boys).
As soon as Whitesides took the stage, almost everybody on the dance floor raised their cellphone in the air to record and snap a photo of Whitesides, as he launched into ‘Rumors’.
Whitesides, although young at the age of 18, is a natural performer. He really knew how to respond and handle his loving crowd. He gave them his full attention and awkwardly accepted any gifts his fans gave him.
Whitesides would often joke around, for example, when his band screwed up, Whitesides announced, “If you can barely play my songs, then you can join my band!”
Setlist |
His hour long set included some new songs on his forthcoming debut album, which he said may land this September. New songs like ‘Focus’ and ‘Open Book’ were about his ever-changing emotional life.
Highlight of his set was a Weeknd cover of ‘I Can’t Feel My Face’, which was song of the summer last year. Everyone in the audience knew it, and they had a great time singing back the catchy lyrics, “I can’t feel my face when I’m with you, but I love it... yeah I love it.”
Instead of exiting the stage for the encore, Whitesides remained on stage after the set finale, ‘Secrets’, to introduce his new song ‘Let’s Be Birds’ as the finale song.
