The two harmonized throughout their brief 30-ish set, playing everything from their self-titled debut EP, and also throwing in a new single ‘Nighttime Hunger’ and a cover of Hozier’s ‘Cherry Wine’. The latter came about when the two girls spent two months in Dublin, Ireland, and for a night played at an Irish Festival (probably Longitude Festival?), which Hozier was one of the festival’s headliners. Backstage, JJ spotted Hana flirting with a guy, asking him what it was like to write ‘Take Me To Church’. JJ had to tell Hana the bad news: the guy was really their sound guy, Shamus, not Hozier.
Overcoats had a great sound, and based on the audience’s feedback, they certainly made some new fans on their first night playing in Minneapolis.
Matt Corby is a big deal in Australia. His first big break was with his 2011 EP Into the Flame, which peaked at No. 3 on the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Singles Chart and eventually certified 6× Platinum. His debut album Telluric, which came out 11 March 2016 via Universal Music Australia, reached #1 on the ARIA albums' chart.

Since it was Corby’s first time ever in “Dinkytown” Minneapolis, he felt obligated to tell us that he’s actually never seen a ‘sorority’ before Sunday night. When a fan later asked why it took him so long to come here, he responded by saying why haven’t the audience flown to Australia to see him play? Jokingly, of course, but he does have a point.
