Keepers Records Club is a monthly subscription record club for record enthusiasts where musicians act as curator, selecting a record they love and writing their own liner notes on the album's personal impact.
The latest Keepers Record (for the month of May) will be Bruce Longhorne’s 1971 Peter Fonda film, The Hired Hand... as presented by James Toth of Wooden Wand.
Toth explained his selection, “The Hired Hand not only evokes but exhumes. It’s part genie in bottle, part séance. It’s an album you shouldn’t play often, though anyone who has been charmed by it knows that this is not possible.”
Keepers founder Matt DeCamp explained why this is an important project:
Keepers began out of a desire to find out about the music that inspires the musicians. What are the staples of their collection? What record changed their life? What are they listening to right now? Keepers provides a platform for musicians to tell the world all about their favorite records, get those records in the hands of the curious and turn some new listeners on in the process.”
