Here is the wrap-up for last month:
February 2016.
Again, the numbers aren’t that fantastic since I’m still on winter break... However, it’s been an uncommonly “warm” winter, that the snow actually
washed away by February 26th, that is why we started covering shows again - particularly making it out for singer/songwriter
Eleanor Friedberger at the end of February.
We’re hoping to cover about 30+ shows in March 2016 (thanks to SXSW), but for now, looking back at the 13 shows we covered:
Favorite Show of the Month Award goes to the Lowertown Line for putting together a free show for local favorites Polica, at Lowertown Line, St Paul (02/04).
Upcoming free shows: Mar 10: The Cactus Blossoms, Apr 14: Sonny Knight & The Lakers, and May 12: Davina and the Vagabonds. Get free tickets via lowertownline.org.
Buzz Award goes to the SiriusXM Advance Placement Tour, featuring Banners, at Triple Rock Social Club (02/29). While these ‘emerging’ bands aren’t popular now, they’ll be big soon.
New Music goes to the Go 96.3 for promoting new music with their showcase, featuring Family of the Year, at Triple Rock Social Club (02/18).
Legendary Award goes to Animal Collective at First Ave (02/28). The experimental band is incredibly popular with the college kids, and one listen and you can see why.
