We got an unexpected preview of The Jayhawks' new album when we caught Gary Louris at Loring Park last year.
Louris explained, “The real reason we’re playing here is that we’re trying out a lot of new songs.”
The album is not exactly out just yet, but it's very close. Should you pre-order the yet-to-be-titled album at pledgemusic.com, you are allowed access to hearing some demos and studio recording.
Can't wait to hear the new songs? We're almost sure that The Jayhawks will be playing the new songs on this 2016 show.
Opening will be Red Daughters.
Looking for more Jayhawks news? Gary Louris recently teamed up with Django Haskins (of the Old Ceremony) to form Au Pair. Their debut album One-Armed Candy Bear is out now via Sham/Thirty Tigers.
Au Pair will be touring to promote the album:
01/09 - Carrboro, NC @ Cat's Cradle Back Room
01/29 - New York, NY @ Joe's Pub
01/30 - Vienna, VA @ Jammin' Java
02/05 - Chicago, IL @ Old Town School of Folk Music
02/06 - St. Paul, MN @ Turf Club

This is local Meinong's Jungle album release show, for their debut LP Archetype. The recording is 10 improvised songs... expect similar treatment to their live set, which is totally improvised.
Here's how they describe the upcoming show:
We are lucky to have support from:
Mumukshu - Psybeat head
Psydell - a young producer out of the Midwest, who is blurring the lines between psychedelic soundscapes and heavy hitting bass music. With so much time and consideration being put into the carefully sculpted sound, it brings an essence of intelligence while still delivering the highest energy. Over the past few years he has shared the stage with artists such as Tipper, Opiuo, Desert Dwellers, Mr. Bill, Papadosio, Haywyre, Spankalicious and many more. With the release of his first EP, Overview in Jan. of 2015, as well as numerous singles and remixes (one of which took first place in the Wildlight (Polish Ambassador) remix contest), this artist is pushing through the limitations of a single genre and propelling the weird bass scene forward, one drippy drop at a time.
Easyjack - a Producer/Bass Scientist/Multi-instrumentalist/Funktion One Tech from Chicago, IL
Doors at 8. Music starts at 9.
Set Times:
Easyjack 9:00pm
Psydell 10:00pm
Mumukshu 11:00pm
Meinong's Jungle 12:00am
