The names of their two singles kind of say it all—
‘King’ and ‘Shine’ – London electronica band Years & Years are finally making their way here with a proper tour after riding a wave of buzz and significant success across the pond.
Singer Olly Alexander has been singing and acting for more than half of his life, so though the 25 yr old looks half his age, he’s no stranger to the stage. Debut album, Communion (Interscope/Polydor) came out in July, opening at number one in the UK and is quickly climbing the charts stateside.
Locally, the Minneapolis show is now sold out but to those lucky enough to have a ticket, be sure to arrive early for opener Tei Shi who has a new EP, Verde out on Mermaid Avenue/ Mom + Pop Music. The singer-songwriter (aka Valerie Teicher) is getting known for her blend of whispery dream pop and guested on the last Glass Animals album.

We previously mentioned The Orb (Alex Paterson and Thomas Fehlmann) on their "Adventures in the USA" tour in April 2014. This time, the duo is back on tour for their latest new album Moonbuilding 2703 AD (Kompakt). The new record, according to Paterson, “it's a solid piece of music that mutates into an eight legged lunar Land Rover and takes off into a cosmic horizon of a million sounds, patterns and textures. It spins the listener on his/her head, rewiring their brains to maximum capacity, then brings them home, sweet home.”
The DJs are encouraging fans to pick up the vinyl, as the vinyl will include three extra bonus songs.
Tour dates:
09-18 - Montreal, QC - la SAT
09-19 - Allston, MA - Brighton Music Hall
09-23 - Minneapolis, MN - Mill City Nights
09-24 – Madison, WI - Majestic Live
09-26 – Detroit, MI - Magic Bag
09-27 - Chicago, IL – Metro
