If you're not familiar with this game series, there is a new Call of Duty game every year. Originally set in World War II, and fans and critics raved for their realistic depiction of that time period (with accurate historical guns and weapons)... but like many things, people grew tired of the 1940s.
Activision, the game's producer, decided to shift the shooter franchise into the modern age, starting with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, followed by World at War and Modern Warfare 3.
Anyway, the latest Call of Duty game is Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which takes place in the future. You're no longer fighting for the government, but now employed by a private company called Atlas, headed by actor Kevin Spacey. His likeness is simply dazzling, you can clearly tell it's supposed to be Spacey.
Since the game is set in the future, with future technology, the game created their own rules. You have this exoskeleton suit to assist you with extra human strength and "boost jumps" (very similar to the Crysis games).
Playing the game, it's almost hard to tell the transitions between pre-rendered cinematic vs actual game engine. It doesn't really matter, because you're probably too busy dodging bullets to care about the frame rates or polygon counts.
Since the game is so detailed and high resolution texture, each level takes a long time to load. To help you pass the time, there is a movie setting up the stage, while the game is loading in the background! I think this is a cool way of disguising the load time, I hope other game developers take note.
Now for the bad: the single player campaign is short. It'll probably will take most fans of the shooter genre about four to six hours to beat. I didn't look at my time, but I felt it took me about eight hours to complete the single player campaign on normal difficulty. I don't really think this will deter people from wanting to own the game, as to be honest, most people are only interested in the online gaming component.
If you are looking for the best looking game for the next-gen consoles (PS4 or Xbox One), Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is it. The future is now.
