THE KOOKS at First Avenue

The first time I saw The Kooks, it was in Chicago in 2007, and it was because their small tour did not include Minneapolis... which I noted that I saw three Minneapolis people in Chicago, just to see The Kooks.
What I wrote about them in 2007 was that they stole their name from a David Bowie song, and at the time only had one album Inside In/Inside Out... so as expected, they basically played the entire album live:
The Brighton band is back in the States, supporting their fourth studio album Listen, which came out 8 September 2014 via Virgin EMI Records. This is the band's first album to feature new drummer Alexis Nunez who joined in 2012.

Halsey (stagename for Ashley Frangipane) has a debut EP Room 93 is set for release on October 28th via Astralwerks. W♥M fans will know that I have a personal love for all-things Astralwerks, so I will definitely be paying attention to this New Jersey girl.
Portland's Priory is currently on tour with The Kooks. The duo (Brandon Rush and Kyle Sears) met in a flophouse in Portland... and the two had a hit with "Weekend" (Warner Bros.), which debut strong on the alternative radio charts for its first week. TIME dubbed them as 'Artist You Should Be Listening To Right Now.'

Playing this Saturday, October 4th, is Christopher Owens at the Turf Club in St Paul. Opening up the show will be Liam Hayes is Chicago composer and performer.
Laura, who caught Owens in Minneapolis last year, described the show as covering his entire discography of recorded music: Girls' 'Album', 'Broken Dreams Club', & 'Father, Son, Holy' Ghost', as well as his own 'Lysandre'.
For this 2014 tour, it would seem that he has a new album A New Testament, which came out September 30th.

As part of promoting the reissue, the band is out on a very successful tour - having sold out many of their dates, including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, etc.

Portland's Wampire's new album Bazaar is coming out October 7, on Polyvinyl Records, but I believe you can stream it now via Noisey. You can probably bet money that the duo will be playing tracks from the new album when they stop in at 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis this Otober 4th.
Bands listed to appear are Montreal's Tops, described as "equal parts girls and guys, delivering a raw punk take on AM studio pop", and also local artist Suzie, aka Mark Ritsema, with his new album Born Single.
