Dance Magazine described the Ragamala Dance and Rudresh Mahanthappa show as "Aparna Ramaswamy infuses the formal rigor of Bharatanatyam with fluid spontaneity and rock star allure."
The show is described as a spiritual journey about the world of the gods. Hear jazz/traditional music from composer Rudresh Mahanthappa, while your eyes will see five Ragamala dancers interpret the music.
The Ragamala Dance and Rudresh Mahanthappa show has a residency from May 15-18, showtime is at 8pm.

I saw The Handsome Family last year, little did I know that this band will become really popular because of HBO's True Detective series. Having seen the pilot, it's hard to ignore that wonderful song ("Far From Any Road" from 2003's Singing Bones).
So, here's your chance to catch The Handsome Family on August 18, 2014, at Loring Park for Free. Their performance is followed by Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove (which I already own on Bluray, but I might try and make it to this event).

I remember the first time I saw Me and You and Everyone We Know, I couldn't get that "pooping back and forth" icon out of my head. So, that, in a nutshell, is what I thought of Miranda July, who wrote, starred, and directed that 2005 film. She seemed quirky on screen, so I wonder if she's just as weird in real life.
