South by Southwest (SXSW) Music officially kicked off March 10th, with the very first band on the official lineup: The Hold Steady starting at 5pm on the Reload Showcase at Mohawk. Charli XCX is listed as the headliner.
All live SXSW photos and short notes are written by Dan. Dan previously covered SXSW for us in the past, and we're happy to have him back reporting on the shows he's attending.

Saw The Hold Steady at Mohawk yesterday (03/10). First band of SXSW, and the only show we saw yesterday. They were on their game and most of the crowd knew the old stuff. Closed with "Southtown Girls", which as a kid growing up in Bloomington, I always get a kick out of that song.
We also saw Oliver Platt on the street; he was in The Big C on Showtime.
The Hold Steady's album Teeth Dreams is available for pre-order, it is set for release on March 25th. This will be the band's sixth album on their own Positive Jams imprint via new label Washington Square (Razor & Tie).
Their upcoming "Nights Go On" Forever tour:
