Like so many bands I paid money to see, I was mostly there check them out. I wasn't that familiar with their music before stepping into the venue. Usually if the price of the ticket was reasonably enough, I would attempt to see the band live - in the same manner that you might pick up an EP or album just to see if you will like the band (and I certainly did my fair share of that).
Needless to say, no memory of this 21+ show, I don't remember what songs were played or who opened up the show. However, I suspect the opener was Grant Hart (from Husker Du). The information was deduced by a photograph of Buffalo Tom and Grant Hart in Minneapolis, dated 2000, courtesy of Mike O'Malley (who was a fan and roadie).

According to Grant, the reason for this was because Good News For Modern Man was never released on vinyl, and he went back to the vault to put out the analogue recording on compact disc and record. The reissue is remastered with a brand-new cover artwork by Chris Larson.
As for Buffalo Tom, they've just wrapped up some concert dates, so they've been known to do some random dates here and there. I have not kept up with the band, in fact, had no idea they released a new album called Skins in 2011.
