One dictionary definition of the word communion is “a common participation in a mental or emotional experience” and that is certainly the basis of the monthly music series continuing locally this Tuesday at Minneapolis’ Varsity Theater.
The series got its start in 2006, when London-based musicians met in a local club to showcase fresh and new sounds. Eight years later, the series continues on this side of the pond, with a nine-city group of dates that brings together emerging national artists, alongside noteworthy local bands.
The Minneapolis stop includes the only January tour appearance of Brooklyn alt-country trio, The Lone Bellow, who wowed us with their intensity at a recent Mill City Nights gig, and is anchored by Jackson, MS indie-rockers, The Weeks, who are promoting their latest, Dear Bo Jackson (released on Kings of Leon’s Serpents & Snakes Records).
Local acts Red Daughters, Southwire, and Skittish round out the very full night of music at a more-than-reasonable ticket price.
