SORNE

As more people shuffled in from the rainy night, singer Morgan Sorne would later dedicated their latest (fake) album, A Thousand Shots (a play off A Thousand Faces) to Bruce Campbell's Bubba Ho-Tep. For their finale, the real Zoe Jakes showed up to help Sorne finish their set.

It is interesting to see a lone vocal DJ, to see how brave they are to stand in front. If they mess up, all eyes are on them! There were some problems, but they weren't really an issue: two of Beats Antique's lighting fixture fell in front of the stage, due to the heavy basslines from Ill-Esha's music, and the feedback monitor was too close to Ill-Esha. They were resolved quickly with duct tape and a stage tech came on to move the monitor back a few feet.
Beats Antique's "A Thousand Faces" stage was one of the most impressive production I have ever seen. This stage was custom built by Obscura Digital, using funding from their recent Kickstarter campaign. Let me describe it for you: there are blank canvas villages and a grand central backdrop. The visuals were handled by a projection that had to be special calibrated to display some of the images on the canvas, and they look amazing. The visual artists behind this, at least to me, was the real star of this show.

As expected, the band played A Thousand Faces: Act 1 live, even bringing on Sorn to sing his part on "You the Starry Eyed" and their Les Claypool (Primus) collaboration song "Beelzebub".

At the end of the set, cheerleaders with black and white outfits and wigs came on stage to help close out the finale. Encore, had the band coming back on with foam medusa headgear.
"Are you ready to hear more music?" After a roaring "YES!", Satori asked again, "Are you ready to be turned into stone?". Again, "YES!" With that, the band continued on until 1:30am, closing out an epic Halloween party. I can tell you that none of the audience last night were making it into work this morning.
Beats Antique is currently on tour in support of A Thousand Faces: Act 1. If the (now) five sold-out shows in a roll are any indication, you definitely need to get your tickets sooner than later.
