Los Angeles' Local Natives have been touring all over the world since early May and it seems like they are just getting started.
Why see them on tour? Because the last time I saw them at the Cedar Street Courtyard at SXSW they did laps and weaved through the audience with their various brass instruments.
The band is currently touring in support of their sophomore release out titled Hummingbird, released on January 29, 2013 on Frenchkiss Records in the US, and on Infectious Records in Europe. The album is the four-year follow up to their debut Gorilla Manor and was produced by The National guitarist Aaron Dessner, and reached #12 on the Billboard Top 200. If that's an indication, Local Natives new sound will be a little closer to what the National is doing. You can preview "Heavy Feet" via Soundcloud:

New York's Caveman has a new single called "In the City", which was released on 7" and digital in the UK on August 12th via Communion.
Fellow W♥M writer Jess got me hooked into Caveman before my trip to Europe. I can't wait to see these guys for the first time! They got to tour with Ra Ra Riot, which is not a bad touring partner. Caveman has the Fleet Foxes sound on record and is the perfect road trip soundtrack. I'm sure they will turn the live set into a whole new portal experience. Check them out on tour and pick up a copy of their new self titled album.

Brooklyn's They Might Be Giants is still touring in support of their new studio album, Nanobots. We caught the band on this tour, which we wrote was possibly the best/greatest tour for TMBG.
Recently (September 5th), the band unveiled their "You're On Fire" music video, which you can see on youtube.com. The video stars Lauren Lapkus from Orange Is The New Black and was directed by Hoku Uchiyama and Adam Bolt.
Nanobots is available now via Idlewild Recordings, and marks the debut offering through the band's new distributor Megaforce Records.
