I've been going to FallCon since 2000, before they moved and upgraded to the much larger Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St Paul.
Anyway, there are two comic book shows by the MCBA (Midwest Comic Book Association): FallCon and Spring Con. They happen every year, like clockworks, and this upcoming FallCon is taking place Saturday, October 5th. Admission is $8, but if you bring a can of food, they knock off a $1.
The entire guestlist for FallCon is listed here, but big draw for me is Dan Jurgens, Doug Mahnke, and Mark Waid.

Not into Comic Books? No problem, that same Saturday, October 5th, from 9am to 4pm, is the Record Show taking place at the Lyn/Lake VFW Hall in Minneapolis, sponsored by KFAI Radio 90.3 and 106.7 FM. Admission is $2.
About the Record Show:
The show was started by the late James “Hymie” Peterson (whose name lives on) and Rich Shelton, and has always highlighted a great environment for vinyl collectors and music lovers. No matter how big or small your budget, you’ll find something at the show, from $1 bins to collectible and rare blue-chip items. The show features a recurring community of local dealers and buyers who fly in from all over the country and the world.

Speaking of MCBA's SpringCon (May 17th and 18th), which is a few weeks after Wizard's Minneapolis Comic Con 2014 debut (May 2nd to 4th)! Can these two conventions exist side-by-side? The thing with Wizard is that they bring in a higher production and high-profile comic (and television/movie guests). But with that, the price of admission is a lot higher, they are listing $75 for all three days (single days are as much as $45.00) and any autographs/photo op with celebrities will have an additional cost. It is a money sink, but sometime this is the only opportunity you'll have access to these guests.
Also, it's still early days and guests have not been announced or finalized, but so far artist Ethan Van Sciver, Dean Cain (Lois and Clark) and James Marsters (Buffy), are scheduled to appear.
