The Polka Chicks is from Finland, consisting of two chicks: fiddler Kukka Lehto and accordionist Teija Niku. In 2009, the then-trio found themselves as "Band of the Year" at the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival, the same year that they released a self-titled album.
The Polka Chick's latest Viulu ja viinantilkka (A Fiddle and a Drop of Liquor) is available now Ääniä Records. According to the record label, the album features songs about singing and drinking to hide your sorrows, unfaithfulness and loveless childhood.
Anyway, the duo is currently in Midwest, having just performed in Minnesota's "Scandinavian Folk Music Festival" and now in Minneapolis for a mini-tour with Kaivama. Kaivama and The Polka Chicks will be at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis tonight.

After winning "Best Newcomer" in Norway, Jenny Hval signed to Trust Me Records and released music under the stage name Rockettothesky. Currently, she has been releasing music under her real name for Rune Grammofon Records.
Hval's latest album is called Innocence Is Kinky, and she will be doing her very first North American tour, in support of the sophomore solo album. Joining her as her live band will be Håvard Volden (electric guitars, synth, electronics), and Kyrre Laastad (drums, synth).
