Frontman of this 5 piece band Fin Andrews (son of XTC keyboardist Barry Andrews) has been playing music since he was 16, and in 2001 started The Veils out of New Zealand, yet they currently reside in London. Finn could be a mixture of Jeff Buckley and David Bowie onstage with his ghostly presence, and their lyrics are melancholy and dark much like The Smiths. Most of the songs played were from their latest album 'Time stays, We Go', along with the hit 'Birds'. Finn explains about the tune "This is another song about anxiety...about staring at one of God's creatures too long and they start to freak you out." Of course the church echoed with laughter. Finn played one solo acoustic song and the band also graced us with an encore. This is what music festivals are made of. Way to go, Brighton.
The Veils are currently recording a new album, and are on a world tour of North America and Europe.
