Breaking down the tracks, I love the opener "Forevermore" which brings you straight into the Swedish countryside. Keeping pace is "Don't Cry" offering Roger Gunnarsson magnificent guitar. Roger and Christin have been producing music for quite a while and Vu was all over their early work back in 2007. Roger was formerly with the band The Happy Birthdays.
"Throw Away This Day" brings you back into forgetting the days of high school. Track 4, "David," was an early released song back in 2008, as I believe a b-side or single. The remastered version sounds great!
"Chandeliers" and "Weakness" remind me of the 80's and The Cure. I know I was born in '86, but I still like the 80's. "Tell Me" mashes well with "Things Just Sound So Easy For You" with sharp high notes and rapid paced guitar chorus. "Open Arms" is the first single released through their label on Shelf Life. Lyrics "Why did I trust you when you took my hand, why can't I never ever understand", from "Why Did I Trust You", sounds like a classic romance novel. Wrapping up the stellar release is "Your Words" which brings you down the streets of Stockholm to witness "fireworks".
The Garlands released a song back in 2007 called "You Never Noticed Me," still my favorite track by the fellow Swedes and I hope this song gets rereleased on their sophomore album. We Heart has it here.
The Garlands Self titled release will be out November 27th! Buy your copy on ShelfLife.com. The Garlands album is available on limited edition vinyl, CD and digital formats. One hundred copies on purple, one hundred and fifty on black vinyl available as a Shelflife mail order exclusive.
