Remember how I wondered if James was going to break up? I guess not just yet, seeing as they've just announced a touring team-up with Echo and the Bunnymen.
Although the headliner is listed as James, I thought maybe Echo & the Bunnymen (or rather Ian McCulloch & Will Sergeant, according to bunnymen.com) should be a double-header bill. Both bands have had one-hit: Echo & the Bunnymen with "The Killing Moon" and James with "Laid."
James' "The Gathering Sound Tour" is kicking off in April 2013, the tour is in support of a forthcoming limited edition boxset of The Gathering of Sound (coming out December 2012): a 4GB USB stick featuring all the studio albums, plus "Best Of" tracks and 180gsm 12" of demos and scrapbook, badges (buttons), backstage passes replica, art-cards, etc. If you're a hardcore fan, this boxset was clearly designed for you.

Jim James, singer/songwriter/guitarist for My Morning Jacket, will be releasing his debut solo album Regions of Light and Sound of God on ATO Records on February 5th, 2013.
Usually when I see these solo artist album, I think that the music is in a different direction than the typical My Morning Jacket. And this isn't just a compilation of odds and ends, this upcoming album was conceived from start to finish under Regions of Light and Sound of God.
Look for Regions of Light and Sound of God in February. You can get a preview of the new album with a free download of "Know Til Now" available on the official website.
