The sad story behind Widowspeak was they were supposed to be here on June 18th, but their van broke down on the way from Chicago, so 2:54 had to play without Widowspeak.
So Widowspeak is finally here in Minneapolis, and what a coincident that their ex-touring mates, 2:54 were playing next door at First Avenue. When I say next door, it's literal; there is a door that opens into 7th Street Entry from First Avenue. What are the odds that the two bands are at the same place on two different tours?
Of course, after 2:54 played their set, they stopped in to watch/hangout/show support for Widowspeak's show. Singer Molly Hamilton was quite happy about the coincidence and was generally pleased to be playing on stage.
As you can see from their setlist, they did all the songs they knew how to play, including "Harsh Realms", "Gun Shy", and their set closer, "Nightcrawler." They actually ran out of songs to play, so the encore was Chris Isaak's "Wicked Games."
